The Toyota FJ Cruiser is a retro-style SUV introduced as a concept car at the 2003 Chicago Auto Show. Based on the Land Cruiser Prado platform, its styling is reminiscent of the original Toyota FJ40 Land Cruisers from the 1960s, particularly the front fascia, white roof and wrap around rear windows. The FJ Cruiser was not originally intended for production but due to enormous consumer response following the North American International Auto Show, production eventually began in early 2006 with the 2007 model. Toyota made a big showing in this year's automotive awards. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's "Top Safety Picks for 2011" have been released, with more vehicles included  than any previous year - and under tighter standards. IHHS writes, "To determine crashworthiness — how well a vehicle protects its occupants in a crash — the Institute rates vehicles good, acceptable, marginal, or poor based on performance in high-speed front and side crash tests, a rollover test, plus evaluations of seat/head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts. To earn TOP SAFETY PICK for 2011 a vehicle must have good ratings in all four Institute tests. In addition, the winning vehicles must offer electronic stability control." Cars, minivans and SUV's in Toyota's 2011 line up that received IIHS's "Top Safety Picks for 2011" award include: Toyota Avalon Scion tC Scion xB Toyota Corolla Toyota Sienna Toyota Highlander Toyota Venza It's important to note that the Toyota Sienna is the only "Top Safety Pick for 2011"  in the minivan category. This Toyota minivan also received an award from Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com as "Best Resale Value."  It gets kudos for having the most cargo space in its class, for being the only all-wheel-drive minivan, and for having the best combined MPG ratings of any 7-8 passenger van (according to toyota.com). Toyota also makes a big showing in U.S. News and World Reports "2010 Best Cars for the Money" awards.
