The 2018 RAV4

The all-new 2018 Toyota RAV4 is here and it’s taking charge on and off the beaten path. The sporty yet stylish exterior gives this adventurous SUV a clean, modern, and sleek look from top to bottom – front to back. Although the outside appearance matters, but so does under the hood: a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder DOHC engine with 176-hp, giving you more power to adventure! You also get an All-Wheel Drive system with Dynamic Torque Control that monitors and distributes engine power between the front and the rear wheels, giving you the ultimate traction. This is another Toyota vehicle that has a thirst for adventure and not fuel, thanks to the EPA-estimated 23 city MPG and 30 highway MPG in combination with Dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT-i) which helps boost fuel economy.

Opening the doors to the cabin, the interior features comfort and smooth edges to help balance out even the roughest voyages. You can enjoy the science-meets-luxury SofTex® heated and power-adjustable seats. And when you track in part of the great outdoors, don’t worry – the heavy-duty Adventure grade all-weather floor and cargo mats can handle it. The 2018 RAV4 offers an available 6-in. multimedia touch-screen with pinch-and-zoom navigation controls. With the optional Entune® App Suite™, you gain instant access to various apps related to music, weather, traffic and more, for you to ride with total confidence.

Because safety is always a priority, adventuring or not, our standard Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P) helps provide peace of mind.

Toyota RAV4 vs. Nissan Rogue

Both the Nissan Rogue and RAV4 have lengthy histories in the SUV market, and they strike similarly in some ways ranging from horsepower to interior room and standard features. But the RAV4 just exceeds in these areas.

  • 5-star crash test safety rating
  • Roof rails
  • Premium radio
  • The reliability you want when purchasing a vehicle – and backed by ToyotaCare.

Toyota RAV4 vs. Nissan Juke

Nissan's Juke first hit the market in 2010, and offers some of the same options you can find on the RAV4; warranties, front head and leg room, and a 5-year cost to own.

But these features are what set the RAV4 apart from its competition.

  • 5-star crash test rating
  • Roof rails
  • Steel wheels
  • Premium radio
  • Rear window defroster

Toyota RAV4 vs. Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 are often seen in head-to-head competition, for good reason: Both are often near the top of SUV sales, have 5-star crash test ratings, 5-year cost to own, and both boast longstanding reputations for excellence. When they're usually grouped together near the top, it pays to pay attention to the smaller details, and that's where you'll find the value in the RAV4:

  • Roof rails
  • Paddle shifters
  • Available 120V rear cargo area power outlet
  • HomeLink® with frameless rearview mirror and power moonroof
  • Entune™ 3.0 system and App Suite with available Toyota Connected Services

Toyota RAV4 vs. Honda HR-V

While Honda's CR-V is fairly established, the HR-V is Honda's newest entry in the SUV market with the aim of bridging the gap between the Fit and CR-V. Honda offers similar warranties as Toyota, and a 5-star crash test rating.

But the RAV4's established history makes it easier to maintain and provides the peace of mind with a well-chronicled history of excellence.

In addition:

  • It has more horsepower
  • Better fuel economy
  • Slightly more head room
  • Port installed roof rails
  • Entune™ 3.0 system and App Suite with available Toyota Connected Services

Toyota RAV4 vs. Hyundai Santa Fe

The Hyundai Santa Fe continues to improve, with a fun interior and larger size than you'd expect. It can hold 7 passengers and has one of the more powerful engines in its class. But for that power, you'll pay thousands more than MSRP on the RAV4. In addition, the RAV4 boasts these advantages:

  • Better fuel economy

  • Steel wheels
  • Lower projected cost to own over next 5 years

Toyota RAV4 vs. Hyundai Tucson

The Tucson is Hyundai's smaller SUV and recently underwent a redesign, marking the third generation of the model. It is more comparable to the RAV4 than other Hyundai models, as well. The Tucson has similar fuel economy, head and leg room, turn radius, 5-star crash test rating, many standard features, and projected 5-year cost to own.

But the RAV4's has a standard of excellence:

  • In reliability
  • Steel wheels
  • Port installed roof rails
  • Entune™ 3.0 system and App Suite with available Toyota Connected Services
  • Larger cargo space
  • Higher horsepower

Toyota RAV vs. Kia Sorento

The Sorento was recently redesigned to be a bit larger and to encompass more seating. As Kia continues to expand its offerings, it has brought a few entries to the SUV market. The Kia Sorento boasts a similar 5-star crash test rating as the RAV4, and both have communications systems. But the similarities stop there, as Toyota's model stakes claim to the following:

  • Better fuel economy
  • Better handling
  • Steel wheels
  • Standard premium radio
  • Legendary reliability

Toyota RAV4 vs. Kia Sportage

The Sportage is the Kia model most similar to Toyota's RAV4, and it shows: They each have similar MSRP, turn radius, interior head/leg room, and both have communications systems.

Toyota also offers the legendary reliability you're looking for when purchasing a vehicle.

  • Steel wheels
  • More cargo space
  • 12V power outlet as options the typical Sportage doesn't include
  • HomeLink® with frameless rearview mirror and power moonroof

Toyota RAV4 vs. Kia Soul

The Kia Soul is closer to a wagon than an SUV, featuring a hatchback style that often places it in competition with over SUVs. It's one of the boxier models on the market, and the Soul sports similar fuel efficiency, 5-star crash test rating, turn radius, and interior room as the RAV4, and both have communications systems

But the RAV4 has the edge with:

  • More horsepower
  • HomeLink® with frameless rearview mirror and power moonroof
  • Steel wheels
  • Toyota reliability

Toyota RAV4 vs. Ford Escape

The Ford Escape offers similar MSRP, fuel economy, roadside assistance, leg/head room, steel wheels, and many standard features like a communications system that you'll find in the RAV4. Ford's Escape also offers a bevy of time level package items and a decently-fun drive.

In addition, the RAV4 offers

  • 5-star crash test safety rating
  • Easier handling
  • Shorter turn radius
  • The reliability you're looking for when making an important purchase.
  • Toyota Safety Sense

Toyota RAV4 vs. Mazda CX-3

The Mazda CX-3 is Mazda's new entry into the continuing-to-evolve small SUV market, and is targeted more vs. models like the Honda HR-V and Kia Soul. But in the SUV market, you compare against the gold standard, and it does have similar fuel efficiency, boasts roadside assistance, premium radio, and a tight turn radius like the RAV4.

But the RAV4 offers

  • Lower projected 5-year cost to own
  • More horsepower
  • More interior leg room and head room for driver and passengers
  • Steel wheels
  • Unrivaled reliability ratings

Toyota RAV4 vs. Mazda CX-5

Unlike the CX-3, the Mazda CX-5 is more of a direct competitor to Toyota and has a longer vehicle history. It offers the option of a manual transmission for those who want it, and is regarded as fun to drive. The CX-5 and RAV4 have similar price points, each boasts roadside assistance, and both have similar interior leg and head room.

But the RAV4 offers

  • Lower projected 5-year cost to own
  • 5-star crash test safety rating
  • Better handling
  • Steel wheels
  • Standard premium radio
  • The reliability ratings you'd want when making an important purchase.
